Post subject:  Planning thread for October 2009 LAN Party

Jigs, im writing this kay basin dili nasad ta mag-abot and para maka-leave ta ug message whenever any of us are out. Although its still way too early to start thinking what would the next LAN Party look like, its better early so we can have more time to prepare for stuff that we should do in the LP.

My concerns:
-The patches are full of bullshit. I'll look forward to have a workaround for this.
-Faster installer distribution. We will need external drives that use chips and not ceramic plates(hard disk drives) so file transfers could be faster. Although network installer distribution is a good choice, its still full of bullshit since file transfer in both HD and network frequently gets clogged so hard.
-Lots and lots of games. I have to admit that we ran out of games on the previous LAN Party.

My list of games that I/we would want to play in the next LP:
-Red Faction: Guerilla
-Deathball, FIFA WORLD CUP HOLY SHIT
-Section 8?
-Starcraft. Do really want.

Others:
-Got any ideas what L4D has to offer this September/October? Crash Course? Survival mode? We can put this in the list of games to play.
-Date when should next LP happen? My guess is October 31 O_O

Bai,

Aside from one attendee that wasn't able to play any game at all, everything went well according to our LP standards. Remember, we're not a commercial group hehe :)

For the next lan party. I suggest the following games.

- Deathball
- The Ship
- Call of Juarez Bound in Blood

Why...

Deathball - a very simple game. Get the ball, pass it around and throw it at the goal. Everyone can easily adjust to the game and catch up. No complex rules to play this game except the overall team strategy of passing the ball around to score points. Nobody dies and wait until the game ends.

The Ship - a game like SIMs only this time, we kill our targets and make sure we kill those targeting us. You walk around the ship, eat food, kill your target and make sure you kill the person targeting you. Simple as that and enjoyable by everyone. Oh, since its like SIMs then you need to eat, sleep, drink and bath. While you do this, pray that nobody's gonna stab you! hahahaha...

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood - It's a shooter. The usual game play rules of team deathmatch apply here. There is also a mode were its objective based. One side gets to play the bandits and destroy stuff while the other side is the law and defend those targets at all cost. Why this? It's a fresh environment away from the usual --- zombie, world war 2 and cod4 environment. It's the Wild West!!! Indians and Cowboys! Yeah!!

Things to consider.
- Avoid games that have a complicated game mechanics. Kill X number of guys to gain money and buy your stuff here.
- Avoid games where if a player dies, he needs to wait for the game to end or map to change. If I'm new to the game, I'm sure to die a lot and I hate to wait for the next map.
- Avoid the latest games. They may have the best graphics and coolest effects but most of the time these games require the latest patches, a fast Rig and last --- a good patch/fix. It's the game play that counts -- deathball.

Don't worry, it was a good LP last time. If someone good lend me their enclosures, then good. I can fill that with the installers a day before the LP. About 3 enclosures should be enough. I don't want to spend money for the DVDs. They are slow and also unreliable.

Noted. Regarding enclosures, I still have my 20gb enclosure here. Ang akong WD 320gb gi-arbor sa ako papa T______________T

I heard L4D new campaign "Crash Course" is going to be out before the LP day. Are we good with this one? Also, I've always wanted to try L4D with everyone playing in survival mode and that would be sickly cool. We need to have more games with the mechanics that you are mentioning bay.

Group pic would be nice. I mean, helluva nice. It's like seeing yourself in a picture that you [strikethrough]graduated[/strikethrough] survived 24 hours with no sleep. Just photoshop the eye bags and were good HAHAHA DISREGARD THAT I SUCK COCKS.

Jigs you mentioned about t-shirts when we talked a few weeks ago. Can we have this in the next one? So we can have incentives who attended in the event and we can advertise BFW and the LP (lol walking billboards). I think we can also ask FU to sponsor a little amount so they can shoulder the expenses of the shirts to avoid the LP fee getting raised to 100%(worst case scenario).

Location, location and location. This is my worst bane ever. Since the next LAN Party looks like its gonna cross paths with sembreak, surely there will be more attendees coming. If we can hit the 20 attendees mark, that's fine. If we hit the above 20 attendees mark, that's a problem. I have been keeping an eye at Fuselage Internet Cafe Talamban since most of my friends suggest it because they said we can rent the place although I still have to personally visit the place so I can inspect it if its feasible for a LAN Party.

Did I mention the next LAN Party crosses paths with sembreak? its not just sembreak, there's also All Souls Day and All Saints Day. Does this look good? Or does this look bad?

Sit-rep ta as usual. Let's keep the ideas flowing nya :D

PS: I still have the three sleeving kits. 1 is with me and 2 is with isaac (guy with kulot hair on white shirt. guy with a coolermaster casing on red theme). Nalimot ug dala ni isaac ang prize because I forgot to re-remind him of it on Saturday na mismo kay naa pa mi lakaw ato.

Jigs, yesterday I went to FU to work on a little errand and timingan, naa si Ryan didto. I asked Ryan about shouldering the shirts and he said he can help. We just need to design the shirts, slap in a logo from FU and Ryan mentioned he prefer to have the brand logos of the products fu is offering. When we're done with the shirts, we need to get how many should go and we'll have the shirts quoted on how much should be paid. We send the quotation to Ryan and he'll see how much he's going to sponsor us.

Regarding the dates, should we go for October 24? I heard inputs na lisud ang October 31 because everyone is going to their provinces and we should avoid it.

I heard nice things about The Ship from Gice. He bought it on steam and he said it was kickass. We should get this on the list nya.

I suggest we should have the details in istorya na for the next LP before the week ends so people can request their leaves early.

Jigs I need your input nya about this. Thanks!
