RP joins Asia-wide broadband project
by redeuxx on Feb.28, 2009, under Internet/Networking News
A lot of big words, but the big question is … how will this affect the regular consumer/gamer? My guess … not much. Read on for more …
PASAY CITY, Philippines–The Department of Science and Technology-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) said the Philippines is going to be part of an Asia Pacific broadband Internet infrastructure initiative.
This was made known after the Trans-Eurasia Information Network version 3 (TEIN3) was launched during the annual Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) here on Wednesday.
The DOST-ASTI will manage the TEIN3 programs in the country and will connect to the Philippine Research Education and Government Information Network (Preginet), which is a local high-speed Internet infrastructure loop connecting dozens of research and development, medical, weather, agricultural and educational institutions.
Over 160 Philippine institutions are connected to Preginet, which allows for high performance computing and video conferencing.
TEIN3, conceived during an Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2000, provides high-speed connectivity among high-level research and development, and educational facilities across Asia.
The TEIN3 project will run until 2011.
Stormrise - Trailer Video

Is this RTS? Watching the video makes you think you are watching a trailer video of an FPS shooter game
This is an RTS game for PC and even in consoles. As a fan of the Total War series (from Shogun total war to Rome total war…), I have high expectations from this game. I hope that by then I get a new hardware
this looks like this can kill my current PC. Reduexx, ship me some hand me downs. hahaha..LOL Adding this game to my watch list …
Big Iron: Dead Tech
by LtBowser on Feb.28, 2009, under PC Hardware

Hehehe…. I get the same feeling whenever I upgrade to new hardware. I only upgrade whenever my PC can no longer run the games I like up to medium level of detail. If most of the games I like to play can no longer be played in at least medium level, that’s the time I upgrade. And whenever I upgrade, I usually end up buying an entire setup. Which brings me to the topic of the article I quote below, what to do with that “dead tec”h you have .. read on below
These are not the first people in line for the MacBook Air II. Maybe. We all love upgrades — whether it’s just an additional stick of memory, a new sound card, or a whole new rig — but there’s the small matter of what to do with the upgraded-from stuff. At some point, all your tech-averse family members will have systems built out of your cast-off components, and want something a tad more potent than a P3 800. At the same time, your significant other, who has caught onto the fact that fragging you is an excellent way of relieving stress, will demand to be on equal technical footing.
You are, in short, eventually going to be stuck with some dead tech. Or, as a reader of this column, something more akin to a moderately-sized drift of it. The laws of physics being what they are, and lacking a handy TARDIS in most of our spare bedrooms, we will eventually need to do something about it.
There is a tremendous amount of discussion as far as what to do when your PC reaches end-of-life (and, truly, this has hit close to home for BI, as the three-year old Dell at his day job gave him the electronic middle finger, and summarily refused to boot this week, earning much-needed retirement, and subsequent replacement with a shinier, faster, and far less recalcitrant black obelisk).
But what should you do with that dead tech? Googling “old computers never die” yields more than six million results.

All in all, Windows 7 is lighter and feels lightning fast.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena: Preview Vids
by LtBowser on Feb.27, 2009, under Game Trailers
Looking good so far.
I hope this one has a good story to back it up and not just fancy graphics. I noticed that most of the melee moves seem to keep showing the under arm. LOL. It’s like Riddick got some fetish for underarms lol. Looking forward to this game.
