The online battle against the “item drop” features for Team Fortress 2 has apparently come to an end, for now anyway. Valve has made yet another update to their multiplayer shooter and this latest patch has enabled a way for players to unlock the new weapons and items for the Sniper and Spy via making achievements.

While you still can get these items through the item drop system, this new update is clearly a case of Valve bringing back a feature that many TF2 players wanted. So while you can get the new Ambassador pistol for the Spy via a lucky item drop you can also get the weapon via unlocking a number of achievements. The patch also deals with a number of bugs in the game.
