by redeuxx on Mar.21, 2009, under Beta, PC Downloads, PC Gaming News

Not much to say here. If you want to try out another MMO much like every other MMO out there, check out the open beta for the Philippines

The wait is over! Rohan Philippines’ Open Beta Testing (OBT) phase will officially begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.

Rohan Philippines’ OBT phase will still have two servers: Torian and Silva. Once OBT is launched, players can either register for a new Rohan account (Available on March 24, 2009) or use their existing accounts from the CBT phase (CBT scratch cards, online registration, mobile). Your Rohan accounts may  be linked to your MyLevel Up! Accounts in order for you to use the account service such as, account linking, change/forget passwords, and as well as the top-up service (Also in March 24, 2009).

The OBT phase will also include the much awaited Item Mall feature of Rohan, for any questions about using the item mall, you may use the Item Mall Guide as your reference. Players may now avail of this service by topping up their accounts to acquire Rohan points (RP).

Rohan points conversion will be 1 Peso = 10 RP (Rohan Points)

Please note also, that OBT will no longer have server wipe-outs. Characters created in OBT will continue on until Rohan’s commercial launch which will be announced on a separate date. We encourage everyone to visit the official Rohan website and our official Rohan Philippines Forums for the latest news and updates.

Ahh Crysis  …  a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Unfortunately, not every rig was worthy of said rose. With the announcement of the next Crytek engine for three major platforms, one can hope that Crytek has it optimized for all but the weakest computers.

Frankfurt a. M. (Germany), March 11th 2009 - Crytek GmbH (“Crytek”) is excited to announce that they will introduce their latest all-in-one game development solution CryENGINE 3, at this year’s GDC Expo (March 25th – 27th) in San Francisco. CryENGINE 3 is the first development platform for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, MMO, DX9/DX10 that also is truly Next-Gen-Ready - with scalable computation and graphics for all major upcoming platforms. It provides the complete game engine to create AAA quality next generation games, and includes the CryENGINE 3 Sandbox™ level editor, a production-proven, 3rd generation “What you see is what you play” (WYSIWYP) - tool designed by and for professional developers. CryENGINE 3 comes with significant new features specifically designed for console, online, MMO and Next-Gen game development.

“With CryENGINE 3 we are delivering our best game development technology that enables our clients to achieve their vision on current and future platforms to develop games such as MMOs, action games and more. Our complete game engine solution enables realtime development, ensures teams are able to maximise their own creativity, saves budget and creates greater gaming experiences. Also with our solution developers can start working on their next generation games today.” said Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek.

“CryENGINE 3 is a revolutionary change from our previous PC-only engines – and we’re applying a similar revolution to the service we provide to developers using the software to create extraordinary games. CryENGINE 3 will set the benchmark for complete game engine solutions in performance, and services to game engine licensees and their players. We’ve been preparing a long time for CryENGINE on consoles and we’re confident that Crytek will again amaze developers at GDC.” added Carl Jones, Director of Business Development CryENGINE.

CryENGINE® is the underlying technology for Crytek’s critically acclaimed games Crysis and Crysis Warhead and has already been licensed to a number of major game companies around the globe, including several recent serious games training and simulation projects.

Crytek’s Engine Business Team will be available during the show for meetings to discuss licensing details with prospective clients. In addition, Crytek will be hosting a series of public presentations at their booth #5940 in the North Hall.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will arrive holiday ‘09

Holiday ‘09? … hellll yeahhh!

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is “looking incredible” and will hit this holiday season, according to Activision CFO Thomas Tippl.

Speaking at the Wedbush Morgan Securities annual meeting, Tippl said that Activision’s strategy for “leap-frogging development” between two developers has been paying out with back-to-back blockbusters for them.

“Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare,” he said. “For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it’s only going to launch in the holiday season.

“There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre. The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job.”

Old BFW Lan Party

by redeuxx on Mar.11, 2009, under Lan Parties

muzikfreakah dug this old video up, I hope he doesn’t mind that I repost this here.

You know it’s old when there are more CRT monitors than LCDs and when Steve Francis was still able to play.

Sony to allow legal homebrew on the PSP

by redeuxx on Mar.11, 2009, under Gaming News

After years of homebrew gaming for gamers enterprising enough to mod their PSP, Sony finally gets the hint and will perhaps legally allow homebrew on the PSP. Perhaps they decided that if they couldn’t stop it, might as well profit from it. But probably not enough to make a difference in their 1.1 billion dollar loss.
